Energy Area Enterprises

Denmark is an advance country in term of energy, produces 28 % of its electricity by windmills.
There is also a lot of enterprises which work in the energy area, like district cooling or district heating.
That's why Denmark leads the renewable energy in Europe.

With our class we have visited the district cooling in Aalborg.
District cooling delivers chilled water to buildings like offices and factories which need cooling.

We also visited at Thisted (a city at only one hour and a half from Aalborg), a district heating.
District heating is a system for distributing heat generated in a centralized location for residential and commercial heating requirements such as space heating and water heating.
Heating requires something to burn, here in Thisted they burn straw and garbage to produce heat.

We also visited the gas supplier of Aalborg : Gas forsying.
Gas forsying
has since 1854 been a supplier of gas to the city of Aalborg. They supply still gas, but much has changed since. The gas was delivered at that time, based on coal. The gas supplied today, is based on natural gas.
But I don't have photos.

Denmark's road trip

Hey ! My parents visited me in Aalborg and they have rented a car thanks to that, I was able to visit some beautiful places in Denmark.
We have planned to visit in priority Skagen, Legoland in Billund and Odense the city of H.C Andersen and for the second time for me to Aarhus.
So we went to Aarhus to visit Den Gamble By and the botanical garden (see the previous article on Aahrus).
Botanical garden
I was surprised because more houses in Den Gamble By were open and the visit of the botanical garden was totally different I saw different flowers and the one I'm expected to show were already wither.
After we went to Skagen where two seas meet each other, hopefully it was sunny.

And to Rubjerg Knude Fyr an phare under the sand. It was so windy there that we had a lot of sand in our hair, clothes and shoes.

After we just visited so villages near the fjord, we haven't see so many boat because it's still the lower season.

And one of my favorite place in Denmark : Legoland ! A place for children or not, you just have to keep your childish soul. Lego is a really big part of Danish culture, even at ucn we play Lego.
Lego buildings were amazing and you can do a lot of attractions. A place worth to be visited once in your life.

Easter holiday in Copenhagen

Hey! Finally we had some free days, but only 5. So we planned to go to Copenhagen, Denmark's capital.
To go there from Aalborg, there are different ways :
by plane min 900 DKK (45 min)
by car sharing min 200 DKK (4 hours)
by bus 125 DKK because we are students (4 hours)

So we bought our Red Ticket here : http://xn--rdbillet-54a.dk/

and for the night we slept in an youth hostel.

We visited :
- Rosenborg Castle : it was built in the 17th century. We can visit the Denmark's crown jewels.

- Amalienborg Palace : the Denmark's queen lives here. We had the chance to see the changing of guards. A museum is in one of the four palace of the place,

- Christinia : it is a car-free and green neighborhood in Copenhagen, we can't take picture inside. This neighborhood was established in 1971 and is under special regulations. A lot of young people came here because of hash dealing.

- Nyhavn: it's a little harbor surround by cosy restaurant and terrace. France's embassy is next to Nyhavn.

- The National Museum : we can find inside all Denmark history from stone age till nowadays.
- The Tower in Christiansborg Palace : on the top we can see all the city. the view was beautiful.

And of course, we saw the little mermaid : it is far from the city center and like its name it is a "little" sculpture.

Because of the Easter holiday a lot of places were closed, and we only had few days, so we can't really visit all the city. That is why I will come back in Copenhagen.

See you soon,

Danish cooking

Hey!

When we were in Copenhagen, I tasted some Danish food and other restaurants which provide some original food.

Here is my recommendation:

 - First of all, we tried some "Smushi". It's like Sushi but in a different way.

Personally I took the eggs benedict and it was delicious (some danish bread, spinach salad, eggs, and grilled ham).

The atmosphere is friendly and we saw a lot of people work inside.

- At Nyhavn (= New Harbor in english), we tried one of the restaurant on the street, specialized in danish cooking.
We choose the herring buffet ans some smorebrod

on the buffet we can find more than ten's way to cook herrings : some examples
-  with a curry sauce
- with blueberry
- with mustard sauce
....

an we can choose a lot of danish bread : with herb, natural...

And for the smørrebrød we have a lot of choices, with fish, with meat for the vegetarian.

I chose some traditional danish meat (very good meat on danish bread with some potatoes and sauce) and some beef with an very particular sauce (it was a mixed between sugar and bitter flavor).

And for our last restaurant in Copenhagen, we went to an original restaurant,

it doesn't have so much meal's choice but each day is different, because it's a restaurant in which the customer has to try new flavor, so the cooker is the king.

(one of the menu is a 'to share meal", and we only know that we have 7 plates to share. And what are we going to eat ? you don't know until it's before your eyes.)
We did not dare to try it at this moment.

And my last restaurant we can find everywhere in Denmark, because it's a restaurant's chain (like Buffalo Grill in France).
Jensen's Bofhus.

Specialized in meat, we can find a lot of plates with meat and their buggers are very very tasty, it's always accompanied with potatoes and by 2 kinds of sauce (one is only use in this chain).

 See you soon,

Beer pong

Hi! Do you know the unmissable event on Thursday?

It is the beer pong, the appointment with all students (from Aalborg University and UCN) and the opportunity to meet other people.

The appointment is at 8:00 pm in the Heidi's bar in Jomfru Ane Gade, You will find this bar behind an archway.

You will be able to defend your country the France!

Now I'll tell you about rules of this game

It's a team game that's why you have to find a partner.  Then, you must place 6 glasses in pyramid and fill them with some beer. The 7th glass is used for rinse balls.

When you have finished the placement and the filling with beer, you must choose who will start the match with the shifumi game.

Afterward, the match can be started. You must throw the ping pong ball in one of the other team's glasses. You can use a direct throw or rebounds. But if you use rebounds the adversary can push the ball with his hands.

If you can put the ball in your target, the glass must be drunk by the adversary and removed from table WHEN YOUR TURN IS FINISHED. Now, if you team can put the ball in two glasses, you can play again for 1 turn. If you can to put 2 balls in the same glass the adversary has to remove 3 of his glasses.

Your team have 2 ping pong balls because there are 2 throws per persons after it is the other team turn and so on and so forth...

The goal is eliminate all other team's glasses, or the maximum before the time limit.

If you want more information and know the different variants go on the link:

http://www.wikihow.com/Play-Beer-Pong

On thursday in Heidi's bar, there is a competition, the goal is to arrive in final in order to win the Vodka bottle. The problem is: it is a direct elimination that's why when you will loose a match, it will be finish for you!

So, after the final, it's time to dance!!!!

See you

Nathan.
